چکیده

The concept of in-air output ratio Sc was introduced to characterize how the incident photon fluence per monitor unit or unit time for a Co-60 unit varies with collimator settings. However, there has been much confusion regarding the measurement technique to be used that has prevented the accurate and consistent determination of Sc. The main thrust of the report is to devise a theoretical and measurement formalism that ensures interinstitutional consistency of Sc. The in-air output ratio, Sc, is defined as the ratio of primary collision water kerma in free-space, Kp, per monitor unit between an arbitrary collimator setting and the reference collimator setting at the same location. Miniphantoms with sufficient lateral and longitudinal thicknesses to eliminate electron contamination and maintain transient electron equilibrium are recommended for the measurement of Sc. The authors present a correction formalism to extrapolate the correct Sc from the measured values using high-Z miniphantom. Miniphantoms made of high-Z material are used to measure Sc for small fields e.g., IMRT or stereotactic radiosurgery . This report presents a review of the components of Sc, including headscatter, source-obscuring, and monitor-backscattering effects. A review of calculation methods Monte Carlo and empirical used to calculate Sc for arbitrary shaped fields is presented. The authors discussed the use of Sc in photon dose calculation algorithms, in particular, monitor unit calculation. Finally, a summary of Sc data from RPC and other institutions is included for QA purposes. © 2009 American Association of Physicists in Medicine. DOI: 10.1118/1.3227367

Minimum Vertex Degree Threshold for <math display="inline" xmlns="http://www.w3.org/1998/Math/MathML"></math>tiling

We prove that the vertex degree threshold for tiling C3 4 (the 3-uniform hypergraph with four vertices and two triples) in a 3-uniform hypergraph on n ∈ 4N vertices is (n−1 2 ) − ( 4 n 2 ) + 8n + c, where c = 1 if n ∈ 8N and c = −2 otherwise. This result is best possible, and is one of the first results on vertex degree conditions for hypergraph tiling. C © 2014 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. J. Graph...

Internal Topology on MI-groups

An MI-group is an algebraic structure based on a generalization of the concept of a monoid that satisfies the cancellation laws and is endowed with an invertible anti-automorphism representing inversion. In this paper, a topology is defined on an MI-group $G$ under which $G$ is  a topological MI-group. Then we will identify open, discrete and compact MI-subgroups. The connected components of th...

Rates of hiv/aids are disproportionately high among AfricanAmericans. Most prevention messaging has been focused at the individuals, while many of the drivers of hiv risk for AfricanAmericans exist systemically. In order to make signifi cant strides in hiv prevention and intervention, programs must account for the unique context of life experiences for AfricanAmericans. In this manuscript, we m...
